Unmasking Gender IdeologyConfronting Transgenderism and Protecting Children

Presented by The Christian Post

The Christian Post is honored to present "Unmasking Gender Ideology: Protecting Children, Confronting Transgenderism" at First Baptist Church of Dallas on March 23, 2023. A panel of experienced professionals who have been fighting gender ideology in their respective fields will present at the event. All of the panelists contributed to the documentary-style podcast series "Generation Indoctrination: Inside the Transgender Battle" produced by CP. Amie Ichikawa, Woman II Woman; Mary Hasson, Ethics & Public Policy Center; Dr. André Van Mol, ACPeds & CMDA; and Jennifer Lahl, Center for Bioethics & Culture, are among the panelists.

Topics discussed will include the perils of gender ideology, the worldwide (including in Texas) indoctrination and medical abuse of children, and the plight of other vulnerable groups like detransitioners and incarcerated women who are increasingly required to share prison cells with men due to gender self-ID laws. The event will be hosted by CP journalist Brandon Showalter. Other featured contributors include Julia Jeffress Sadler, who will speak about her ministry to young people dealing with these difficulties, and Jeff Myers, the president of Summit Ministries and co-author of a recent e-book with CP.

  • Mary Rice Hasson, J.D. is the Kate O’Beirne Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C. She co-founded the Person and Identity Project, a new initiative that empowers parents and faith-based institutions to combat gender ideology and advance the truth of the human person, and she serves as the director of the Catholic Women’s Forum, a network of Catholic professional women and scholars.

Mary, an attorney and policy specialist, served as the Holy See’s keynote speaker at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women addressing women and work (2017), education (2018), and caregiving (2019), and gender ideology (2019). She presently works as a consultant for the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family, Life and Youth. She co-authored the book "Get Out Now: Why You Should Pull Your Child from Public School Before It’s Too Late" with Teresa Farnan in 2018.

  • Amie Ichikawa is a former inmate and founder of the charity group Woman II Woman, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the rights of incarcerated women. She became aware of the need for female-centered re-entry support and services after being released from prison and decided to act as a resource center for her sisters who were still inside the correctional facilities. Women are now being denied their fundamental human rights as a result of the passing of legislation requiring gender self-identification, and they are being forced to live with completely intact men who have a long history of violence against women. Woman II Woman stands as one of the only platforms for the incarcerated female population in California’s prison system to which they have unprejudiced access. Ichikawa’s work and advocacy has been highlighted in the Wall Street Journal, The Christian Post, and Reduxx Magazine.

  • Jennifer Lahl is the founder and president of The Center for Bioethics and Culture Network. Lahl couples her 25 years of experience as a pediatric critical care nurse, hospital administrator, and senior-level nursing manager with a deep passion to speak for those who have no voice. Her writings have appeared in a number of publications, including Cambridge University Press, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Dallas Morning News, and the American Journal of Bioethics.

Her most recent bioethics-focused documentaries examine the morality of gender medicalization and profile detransitioner women who have suffered medical injury from it. The Detransition Diaries: Saving Our Sisters and Trans Mission: What’s the Rush To Reassign Gender? were released in June 2021 and September 2022, respectively.

  • Dr. Jeff Myers is the president of Summit Ministries. He has established himself as one of the nation’s most renowned experts on the growth of young leadership through his work as an educator and entrepreneur. James Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, described him as “a very gifted and inspirational leader.” He is "a man who is 100% sold out to preparing the next generation to reflect the character of Christ in the culture," according to evangelist Josh McDowell. Dr. Myers has become a fresh voice offering humor and insight from a Christian worldview through his speaking engagements and media appearances.

The Understanding the Faith, Understanding the Times, and Understanding the Culture textbooks, which are studied by tens of thousands of students, are among his 14 published works. Myers graduated with a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Denver. He keeps college students interested by teaching them in the unique Signature Leadership Course series that Unbound, a project-based learning organization that trains high school and college students to be leaders for Christ in the real world, offers. He lives with his wife Stephanie and their children in Colorado.

  • Julia Jeffress Sadler is the bestselling author of “Pray Big Things,” Licensed Professional Counselor, reality TV star, pastor’s daughter, and the Next Gen Minister at First Baptist Dallas. Julia is the host of the nationally syndicated radio show, TV show and top-charting podcast, Unapologetic, where she shares biblical clarity on today’s trends and topics. She lives in Dallas, Texas with her husband, Ryan, and their miracle triplets.

  • Brandon Mark Showalter is an Evangelical Press Association award-winning journalist and podcaster with The Christian Post, where he has been covering issues of theological interest to the Church since 2016. He has placed a particular emphasis on the growth of gender ideology in the USA and throughout the world. In the Fall of 2022, he co-produced "Generation Indoctrination: Inside the Transgender Battle," a documentary-style investigative podcast series from The Christian Post. He has also made appearances in a number of documentaries, including Broken Hearted Films’ "Dead Name," and the Tucker Carlson Originals film "Transgressive: The Cult of Confusion" on FOX Nation.

He has a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Spanish from Bridgewater College of Virginia and a Master of Arts from the human rights program at The Catholic University of America. He is also a fellow of the John Jay Institute for Faith, Society, & Law.

  • Board-certified family doctor André Van Mol, MD, has a full-time practice in California. He co-chairs both the American College of Pediatricians’ Committee on Adolescent Sexuality and the Christian Medical & Dental Associations Sexual & Gender Identity Task Force. Dr. Van Mol has authored and spoken on topics of bioethical and Christian concern for the CMDA. He has also been widely published in professional and general literature and has been interviewed by a large number of news organizations, publications, and media outlets.

He also collaborates with Alliance Defending Freedom in a team of experts that provides policy advice on issues pertaining to sexual orientation and gender identity, including acting as an amicus curiae or friend of the court in federal appellate and Supreme Court of the United States cases and advising legislators, government organizations, and advocacy groups around the world on sexuality and gender identity. Bethel Church of Redding and Moral Revolution both include Dr. Van Mol as a board member.
